  • I first came across Lord of the Dance while channel surfing when it aired on PBS in the late 90's. The remote control was set down and not picked up again until it was over. I was instantly pulled in and forever changed by the beauty that is Irish dancing. I became obsessed with it, bought the music, the DVD's, was able to see Feet of Flames in person with you at the helm (I actually cried during the finale.) It was amazing! I really wanted to learn, but didn't have the courage since I was already an adult and could imagine how hard it would be to learn. Somehow, though, with the encouragement of others, including my sister-in-law who Irish danced as a child, I found my courage and enrolled in lessons. It was the best year of my life! I lived and breathed Irish dancing and I learned ALOT! Then life happened and I couldn't continue with the lessons. That was 15 years ago.... I have thought about doing it again off and on over the years, but figured it was something that at 39 was out of my reach. Then you came to Colorado with Lord of the Dance Dangerous Games. As soon as it was over, and even though I was absolutely petrified, I found a school and enrolled again. This week I had my third class! I am basically starting over again, but thanks to you, I found the courage to lace up my Ghillies again and try! Thank you for reminding me that nothing is impossible and to follow my dreams!

Ireland should be so Proud of it's truest ambassador, Michael Flatley! (Perhaps growing up on the Southside of Chicago had a bit to do with your persona as well?)
