Magnificent Troupe 2 in Jacksonville
It was a balmy February evening by St.Johns river in the city of Jacksonville, Florida. We had spent most of the day making the arduous journey from Palm Bay to see the magnificent troupe two perform at the Times Union Center. It is just about two years to the day since we have witnessed this spectacle performed by this troupe, spookily enough at this very arena. Will it have changed over the years? We were soon to find out. The arena was just about packed to the rafters for this return event, many members of the assembling audience getting ready to celebrate this event, plus the upcoming St.Patricks, by sporting varying amounts of shamrock, and the "The wearing of the green" On with the show, Still after all these years of attending LOTD spectaculars, the very opening bars of music for this show still manages to make the hair on the back of my neck stand, and stays that way for the remainder of the performance. After the waking of the magic kingdom, by the Little Spirit {taking this role tonite} most eloquently was one of the veterans of Irish dance, Sarah Sullivan, which leads to the entrance of The Lord of the Dance, who simply catapults himself onto the stage. This young man is a certain Mr. Bobby Hodges, first time we have seen him dance in any role, but despite his obvious youth, he takes command of the stage, and shows he has a immediate connection with the audience as they are only to happy to be taken along with him for the ride. The audience participated with proceedings right from the get go, involving themselves with Cry of the Celts/Lotd/ Siamsa, etc, so a good time was had by all. Others key players in tonites performance were, Saorise, Maggie Revis Don Dorcha Ciaran Plummer Morrighan, {Geordie Girl} Cherie Butler Mannequin Andrea Kren On the fiddle, Juliette Primrose and Anne Hatwell and last but certainly not least, all the way from the beautiful down town paradise of Figgs Marsh was the velvet toned voice of Maryanne Roddy. The show was of course brilliant, another couple of years performing seem to have honed the dancing skills of these people to an even sharper degree, and with the added enthusiasm of newer dancers, still one of most enthralling nights entertainment you could get {and still be legal} Thanks to everyone in the show who had time to stop and talk after the show, and share some of their excitement, hope you all have a good week, and we will see you all in Melbourne, Take care and may your Gods go with you. With our Bob, Shazzy, JG and Merrybeth.
