Hi, James, thank you so much for posting this! Not one of my UK resident friends could tape it for me and I was sooo sad, but it sure feels good to know what happened. Thank you once again!

I saw this documentary last night and immediately assumed that parts of it were hoaxes and showed off Michaels excellent sense of humour. The image he portrayed to the film crew was of James Bond's smarter older brother but surely no one would really open a casino in Las Vegas with a 50/100 foot high glass of Guinness that a semi clothed lady dives into every half hour? The Casino's tag line? 'Follow your dreams to the end of the rainbow'.It seems that Michael once followed a rainbow from Cork to Dublin (which is a bloody long way) and this footpath is now known to the Irish Ramblers Association as Flatley Way.Excellent. Good Man Michael.Selling aphrodisiac Irish spring water to the Japanese? Ha haaaa. This may have been done with the collusion of the film crew since there were a couple of occasions when Michael was obviously wearing a microphone even though the camera crew appeared to have just entered his house. The programme showed that he doesn't take himself too seriously and increased my respect for him enormously.Still a great dancer with a sharp mind.I wonder if he'll give me a job. Ha haa.

I agree, but what a feking fab 'fly on the wall doc..the man is a genius, I was wanting more at the end of it. My estimation of Michael the man has sky rocketted too! I was always a bit dubious about his taste in woman, as his last girlfriend has a bit of the Molly Malone about her (gypsy and tarty looking). The secret 'underground' '80 movies of dancers/the bottle of guinness/I'm hoping there is a pleasant metaphot lurking there about the size of his manhood..the rainbow was hilarious/ but to tell ya the truth i was mouth gaping open to know which parts were true..His style is pure and true no doubt about that, sheer genius. Michael you are a genius! I love your sense of humour, we should be more proud of you here in ireland PS How much id the DJ get for his wonderful comments/ he blags about Robbie williams too!!!!!!

I don't sense anything in the video that is a hoax. I've met Michael, admittedly it was some time ago but the Michael I saw in that video was the same self-confident man I met back in 1997. I think maybe that's why people have a problem and don't know how to react to him, I think there isn't a false or fake bone in his body. He came from meager beginnings so to speak, he has remained approachable but still enjoys nice things and money. To me it's that simple and I think he's wonderful.

I think the following was fake/staged:1) the "accidental" showing of the film he directed at the party2) MF telling off the cameramen for filming it3) The basement where he set up his club being way behind schedule4) the MF soft toys (the clip from Gold being a giveaway - that was a FAN MADE toy!5) The water advert at the endAlso please dont bombard me with requests for copying tapes or to capture the entire thing, I just dont have the time to be doing that sort of thing anymore. I've done you a long video clip of the best part. Be greatful for what youve got! The rest isnt that great anyway, more about his business ventures and his party. Interesting, but not related to his new show, his dancing etc

I thought he had changed since I last saw him. I also think the films were soft porn, but who cares? It was an enjoyable documentary and gives us an insight into what a brilliant business conoisseur he is!

I can't believe you lot fell for this tosh.....?????If you had bothered to watch the credits you would have seen that they admit that it was part reality part fantasy. Perhaps you diehards will get into the psychology of it all but i was left thinking what the feck was all that for..... it was so superficial.Michaels talent is undeniable but this was a joke and it seems the joke was on you

Pat : "I've met Michael, admittedly it was some time ago but the Michael I saw in that video was the same self-confident man"... i've also met Michael but didn't notice he was that "self confident man" you describe. It was not an after show and i hadn't pre conceived ideas about his self confidence, driven persona. I agree with someone here who wrote " the joke was on you" but if michael plays the joker what does that mean about his self confidence ? think about it. You'd better run see the comments on the BBC3 chatroom about the "king of club" documentary, they're a few realistic posts.

SELF-SERVICE--Thanks but I don't care to read any comments made in some BBC3 chatroom. The ones I read a couple of seeks ago on some Sessions web site was enough. These comments were made by people commenting on Michael's first flute CD. And many of them were of Celtic origin, judging by the names they signed. If Michael wants to play the joker as you call it, I don't see it as a negative reflection on his self-confidence. We all have our impressions of Michael, you just expressed yours. If you have anymore comments to make to me on this, use my e-mail address.

Pat : BBC chatroom is not the one you read on MF flute Cd - i read that one and it has nothing to see, no rude words or anything of that kind. I will surely use your e mail address but my goal wasn't to be controversial here. I just think Michael has changed between the time you met him and now. He's also a man of many moods and it's hard to undestand someone who has so many faces, so i will spare myself a final statement of any kind about his self confidence or anything private about him on an official board. i appreciate your answer. it was fair play. Humor is sometimes a defensive way to express something you don't want to say openly for whatever reasons, that's all i meant when i said he played the "joker" .

Pat, you are not the guardian of this website, so why don't you step back and take a deep breath!!! Michael is a big boy and does not need defending.Whether it is King of Clubs, or anything else, he knows exactly what he is doing, every step of the way!!!

OK everyone, take out your sense of humor and dust it off. I've been told by a reliable source (a friend who lives in the UK) that BBC3 is actually an "arts" channel something like our Bravo or The Comedy Channel and they specialize in comedy shows. This show was a spoof and shows (to those who have a sense of humor and an open mind) what a comic genius Michael is. I have not seen the show yet myself but will as soon as my tape arrives in the mail. But my friend said he recognized a couple of actors who are known in the UK playing the parts of club managers and other "officials" and it looked as if the "girls" in the clubs in each city were the same girls each time! Michael even broke up laughing at one point when he was supposed to be serious and said something like "don't you love my sense of humor". I cannot wait to see it. I think people sometimes take life way too seriously. Lighten up a little and laugh at yourself and at what life hands you. You'll feel a lot better for it!

just tuned in to this on BBC3 and was riveted to the screen, superbly done but ... this was a spoof, there is no new club in London and most of the participants are actors ... I can't quite see the point though, it was a bit like the fake Dale Winton / Nell McAndrew wedding, amusing but pointless ...

Hi, just randomly surfing the net to see what MF's really up to after watching this doc on BBC3 UK... I can't get to sleep so I thought I'd settle this for you guys. 'MF: Lord of the Clubs' was the third in a line of spoof documentries shown by BBC3 in the UK. The first was 'Dale's Wedding' - apparently showning the wedding of Dale Winton (b-list gay presenter) and Nell McAndrew (attractive b-list glamour model)... as it was the first one alot of people were convinced - it even made the papers. The second was 'Sex, Lies and Micheal Aspel', which, by the end had basicly alledged that MS (ageing British 'This is Your Life' presenter) was illigitamate father to half the famous young women in Britian. My grandma was so convinced she told me one day she was very disapointed by his hidden dark side! I had to explain it was all a joke to her - took a while, but she was relieved! And most recently, we have 'Lord of the Clubs', which I would imagine is almost entirely fiction, just like the other two - and a genius work of fiction at that - seriously funny, and exceedingly subtle. And it's increased my respect for Mr Flatley 10 fold - so daring to do something like that that alot of people could actually believe. Anyway, sorry for rambling, hope that helped - and I highly advise anyone in the UK who hasn't seen the first two to try - hillarious stuff imho. Laters - BBC3 Watcher (baz :-)

I have to be honest, I fell for this programme hook line and sinker, but didn't understand what the point of it was?? It wasn't until the end credits when it said some bits were made-up that the it fell into place (still not sure I see the point of it though). Respect to Michael for being able to laugh at himself. I do think the truth in the programme was that he is an incredibly talented, driven creative genius.

thanks to those 2 new posters, now i undestand a little bit better the aim of the program that i haven't seen yet. what i don't totally undestand is the reason why MF didn't explain that it was a prank. maybe he's thinking his fans are as smart as he is and can actually get it. Nice to be considered as smart people - as fans - but it's so subtle that i'm not sure everyone will get it ( judging by the comments made by some MF fans on this page). Some of them are thinking he made fun at them !

I am glad someone here has flagged up this documentary - I just wanted to give my opinion. I am not a MF fan and have never seen Riverdance or the like - I stumbled on the programme by mistake and was hooked within about 2 seconds. My perception of MF before was not very good and the programme confirmed my thoughts....until the end. When I realised I had been fooled I realised what an amazingly clever man he is. By doing the faux documentary he has managed to turn the stereotype around - well done!

Yes, MIMI, i fully agree with you. Mf is a smart guy, and the hidden message that is behind the BBC3 doc could possibly be : "leave me alone". "what i'm doing is non of your business". He's not only smart, he's also sharp. Many of the jokes that the documentary is containing are answers to critics that appeared here and then in the press over those last 4 years and even critics directly addressed to him on his own website or related chatrooms. To some point i even wonder if he hasn't written part of the script himself to some purpose. I didn't see anyone credited for the script on the closing credit.Any idea who's behind ? last but not least, the fact he didn't say a word about that documentary, didn't made any comment, also speaks for itself. When he says to the TV crew, in LA : 'you may see - or learn - a few thigns but it will only be when i want you to see them" is just a message he could have posted ...HERE !

I would have said that he came up with the concept himself after being approached by the BBC - he seems like a man in control! If he can get me to come to a MF Forum the man deserves and award!

How strange , Mimi, i fully agree with you because... i was about to say that i really thought he had written the plot himself !!! Since there is no name on the closing credits about this ( ?) i was wondering how it had been done for the 2 previous documentaries about celebrities, mentionned here by " BBC3 Viewer". Mimi, as you rightly wrote ;he is a man of control... Her "so called" PR in the documentary says : " to the rest of the world he's just a dancer", But as he said himself " we're flying under the radars". quite a clear view of himself, uh ?

I haven't seen 'King of Clubs' yet, but after reading this thread I am looking forward to it more than ever! I LOVE the concept of (((((MICHAEL))))) being able to poke fun at the rumour-mongers, tabloids etc, God knows he deserves that chance after all they've said about him over the years! I imagine making a 'documentary' like this must have been a great catharsis. It also sounds like (((((MICHAEL's))))) sense of humour to a T! Do you guys remember the press conference after his 'walking on water' stunt to launch the FOF tour? He had to point out to the slow-witted journalists there that he was just 'taking the Mickey' out of himself with that stunt, LOL! It sounds like 'King of Clubs' is in exactly the same vein, and I say more power to (((((MICHAEL))))) for having such a well-developed sense of humour, *BOG*.

you can't be more right ! BBC3 is exactly - according to me - the same concept that the walk on water clip, but this time it is lasting 55 mns ! Maybe he'll tell us in a few months that he was just " sending himself up", as he said in Gold, about the clip. Hope you'll get to see it soon.
