‘Friend factor’ key for dance lord

Superhoofer Michael Flatley reckons the most fool-proof way of keeping romance alive is to marry your best friend.

The Lord of the Dance star praised his wife Niamh’s intelligence as he revealed the secret to their successful marriage.

He said: “A friend of mine told me you will never go wrong if you marry your best friend.

“Niamh is very much like that. For years she’s been my leading lady. She’s a great balancing person for me.

“That’s important because I put the blinders on and go for the finish line,” confessed the 50-year-old star, who was previously engaged to model Lisa Murphy.

He also said his son, Michael Jnr, is “the greatest thing that could have happened” to him.

“Starting a family changes an awful lot in your life – and brings inner peace,” he reveals during a TV3 interview tomorrow at 8pm.
